Rusquartet
“The performance given by the Rusquartet was serene, poignant and intense. The music grabbed you by the throat and that feeling remained with you throughout the performance.”

“Rusquartet: a string quartet that has been making music at the pinnacle of string playing for more than 20 years.”
Rusquartet was founded in 2001 at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the tutelage of Galina Soboleva, cellist of the Prokofiev Quartet. The members of Rusquartet are DMA graduates of the conservatory and students of Dmitry Shebalin (violist of the Borodin Quartet).
In 2006, Rusquartet won first prize at the Rheinsberg Competition in honour of Shostakovich’s 100th anniversary. One year later, Rusquartet was selected as one of ten string quartets to participate in the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition. The quartet won first prize at the Shostakovich Competition in Moscow in 2008.
In Russia, the quartet released a CD featuring works by Taneyev and Shebalin. They started recording a set of 4 CDs for the Etcetera label in 2017, with music by Beethoven and Mozart plus Tchaikovsky’s complete oeuvre for string quartet as well as sextet, which met with tremendous acclaim.
