Every edition of the ARD International Music Competition Munich features a young ensemble that distinguishes itself from the rest. In 2022 this was the Barbican Quartet, a phenomenal string quartet. Not only did they win 1st Prize at this prestigious competition; they were also awarded the special prize for best interpretation of the commissioned work by Dobrinka Tabakova, the GENUIN Classics CD production special prize, the GEWA prize and the Henle Urtext prize. This incredible success followed the Quartet's 1st prize taken at the 2019 Joseph Joachim International Chamber Music Competition, as well as at the 2018 St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Music Competition.
The ensemble will be performing at various venues throughout the Netherlands from 13 to 19 December 2023. The tour includes performances at the Concertzaal in Tilburg (Kamermuziek Souvenir) on Wednesday 13 December, the St. Blasius Church in Delden (Delden Klassiek) on Sunday 17 December and Diligentia in The Hague (Kamermuziek Den Haag) on Tuesday 19 December.
