Chamber Soloists of Detroit & Olivier Patey

The Chamber Soloists of Detroit will be performing in Breda (30 October) and Heemstede (31 October), concluding their first European tour in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw on 1 November 2020. Olivier Patey, solo clarinetist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, is the ‘special guest’ in a scintillating and varied programme.

Expect a 'stunning array of emotions', as Pauline Martin and her outstanding ensemble of Detroit's finest take the stage, with guest clarinetist Olivier Patey. Performing a varied and engaging programme - from Johannes Brahms’ beloved Clarinet Trio and the arresting Piano Quintet by Shostakovich to Franz Waxman’s charming Variations on Auld Lang Syne - Chamber Soloists of Detroit will leave you wanting more.

Not only will Olivier Patey shine in Brahms’ Clarinet Trio; he will also join the ensemble in Prokofiev’s beautiful Overture on Hebrew Themes for clarinet, piano and string quartet. The influence of this composer - as well as that of Shostakovich - can clearly be heard in Waxman’s Variations on Auld Lang Syne. Franz Waxman garnered worldwide fame for his scores to over 150 films, which include four by Alfred Hitchcock. The variations were written specially for the traditional ‘Jascha Heifetz New Year’s Eve Party’ of 1948’.
